A man who spiked treats with tranquilliser and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two children aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
However, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She said his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.
Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the children "for many years", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.
She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "In the summer" his family member had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel stated materials including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the authorities about his worries.
She stated Ruben continued to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member called the police once more.
She explained Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
